Scholarships

Dallas Community Foundation administers 13 scholarship funds established to support graduating high school seniors pursue post-secondary education. If you would like to permanently link your name or your support to the youth of the Dallas area, please contact the Foundation office. Scholarship funds can be established with as little as $10,000.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be a graduating seniors of Dallas High School, and must attend a post-secondary community college, college or university,or a technical, trade or vocational school the year following graduation from high school.
  • Each scholarship fund has specific eligibility criteria. Please refer to the description of each fund to determine your eligibility
scholarships & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Jerry Piering Family Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.3 minimum cumulative gpa; commitment to enroll in a post-secondary degree program of study in a program other than a liberal arts program of study.
Jeremy Buller Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior with 3.25 minimum cumulative gpa.
Department of Forestry Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.25 minimum cumulative gpa; commitment to enroll in a four-year college or university with preference given to the pursuit of a degree in natural resource sciences, including, but not limited to, forestry, soils, agriculture, animal sciences, fish and wildlife, ecology and earth sciences.
Dallas Community Foundation/Arvidson Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.0 minimum cumulative gpa; demonstrated commitment to and involvement in school and community service activities; demonstrated attributes of good citizenship in relationship with home, school and community; demonstrated need for scholarship assistance.
Beatrice Gallaspy Scholarship Graduating senior; academic and scholastic achievement with a 3.0 minimum cumulative gpa; genuine financial need; regular school attendance; demonstrated respect for law and order and good discipline and citizenship.
Chester B. and Jeanne R. Healy-Brown Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.0 minimum cumulative gpa; preference given to students committed to enroll in a post-secondary degree program of study in agriculture.
Hank and Wanona Kliever Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.5 minimum cumulative gpa; commitment to enroll in a post-secondary degree program of study at Oregon State University.
American Legion Scholarship Graduating senior with record of successful participation in the music program at Dallas High School; demonstrated commitment to using his or her musical skills in the community and an interest in continuing to use his or her musical skills in the community and in his or her future education.
Carl E. Morrison/Rotary Scholarship – Academic Graduating senior with a 3.5 minimum cumulative gpa; demonstrated stability and maturity in the relationship with home, school and community; active in school and community affairs which promote wholesome, worthy use of leisure time; must attend an institution of higher education the year following graduation from high school.
Carl E. Morrison/Rotary Scholarship – Vocational/DHS Student must attend a technical, trade or vocational program of study the year following graduation; must have met the graduation criteria of Dallas High School, demonstrated stability and maturity in the relationship with home, school and community; student must be active in school and community affairs which promote wholesome, worthy use of leisure time.
Carl E. Morrison/Rotary Scholarship – Vocational/MAS Same as above, except, student must have met the graduation criteria of Morrison Alternative School.
Paul Olliff Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior with a 3.0 minimum cumulative gpa; commitment to enroll in a post-secondary degree program of study; demonstrated academic achievement and good moral character.
VFW/Charlie Bair Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior with a 2.5 minimum cumulative gpa; demonstrated aptitude for business ownership and skills in the fields of mechanics and mathematics.
Helen M. Smith Scholarship Graduating senior with 3.3 minimum cumulative gpa; commitment to enroll in a post-secondary degree program of study; demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, potential for success and financial need.

How to Apply

  • Application forms are available through Dallas High School Guidance Office.

Post Award Information

  • Scholarship recipients will receive an award information form which must be completed and submitted to the Dallas Community Foundation within 30 days of the award along with proof of full-time enrollment and a thank-you note.
  • Payment will be made directly to the institution, not to the student
  • For scholarships $500 or less, the Foundation shall pay in-full at the start of the school year. For scholarships over $500, the Foundation shall make a partial payment, either 1/2 or 1/3 depending on the whether the school operates on a term or semester system. The recipient must provide the Foundation proof of fulltime enrollment for the next term or semester to be eligible for a remaining partial or final payment.
  • All scholarship distributions must be paid within the first school year following the scholarship award. Distributions for the benefit of recipients who are enrolled in the Chemeketa Community College Honors Program must be paid before the end of the third school year following the scholarship award.
  • A scholarship recipient may, for good cause shown, request that the Foundation board of directors grant an extension of time to pay all or part of his or her scholarship distributions. The Foundation board of directors may approve, conditionally or unconditionally, or deny such a request in its sole discretion.
